Paul Taras Wolkowinski

Welcome, my name is Paul Taras Wolkowinski, and I’m the owner and founder of this website and the Indian Clubs Academy.

Perth, Western Australia

I travel the world teaching and live in Perth, Western Australia which lies adjacent to the Indian Ocean. Perth is the capital of Western Australia, it is located where the Swan River meets the southwest coast of Australia.

Perth enjoys hot, dry summers and mild winters. Summer is hot and dry with very little rainfall. Winter can bring heavy downpours of rain and thunderstorms.

Educator and Specialist

I am an educator and specialist in the Ancient Arts of Swinging Indian Clubs, Persian Meels, Jori and Mace Gada. These modalities offer substantial physical and mental benefits and are fast becoming commonplace in the fitness industry.

Indian Clubs, Persian Meels, Jori and Mace Gada, share a lot of common ground.
Best of all, they offer a fusion of physical and mental exercise as you learn.

Indian Clubs Academy

Indian Clubs Academy Logo

I founded the Indian Clubs Academy and developed courses with the aim to offer the tools and skills needed for people to become proficient practitioners and educators.

Indian Clubs Knowledge

My knowledge of Indian Clubs comes from old manuals (research archaeology) and endless personal practice. Learning from my mistakes has been crucial in the development of my technique and teaching methods.

Principles of Club Swinging

I love working out how to swing the circular patterns from diagrams in old manuals

The challenge of finding and mastering new circular combinations serves as a motivation to keep swinging Indian Clubs. I always feel elated when I conquer a new movement sequence.

Mace Gada and Jori Knowledge

I have travelled to India to learn the secrets of the Mace Gada and Jori from the Masters of the Art in Varanasi and Mysore.

Persian Meels Knowledge

I visited Iran twice and travelled all over the country in search of every Zurkhaneh I could find.
I trained at the Shiraz Zurkhaneh Academy to help refine my Persian Meels and Shena techniques.

I Make My Own Clubs and Gadas

I turn Indian Clubs and Persian Meels on lathe designed for woodworking.
The lathe works by exposing a turning (rotating) workpiece to a stationary hand-held cutting tool by rotating rapidly along its axis.

Paul Taras Wolkowinski - Wood Lathe

Hand-held tools are used to cut a shape that is symmetrical around the axis of rotation

Day to Day

Day to day, I run two websites, create online courses, and make YouTube videos.

Workshops

Every year from 2013 until 2019, I planned and organised international workshops. Everything with the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. It is difficult to foresee when the climate will be safe to recommence workshops.
Watch this space for details.
