Keep it Swinging – Mace and Clubs
Keep it Swinging, a mix of the Nail Gada (mace) and Indian Clubs. The idea is for the Indian Club movements to mimic the Nail Gada (mace) movements in the closest possible way.
Equipment
Indian Clubs Sim D. Kehoe replicas (circa late 1860’s) weighing 3lbs each made from Tasmanian Oak.
Nail Gada (mace) 7.5kg made in the traditional method, from bamboo, concrete and nails.
The Background of the Nail Gada Mace
No Mercy… The idea behind the Nail Gada (mace) is to encourage the athlete to improve their mace swing. If the athlete hits the backs of their legs and injures themselves in the process, it has to be considered that their swing is not good enough, keep trying and get it right.
Tough love… This concept originates from the Akhara’s (wrestler’s gyms) of Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh, Northern India. In a nutshell, you must swing the Nail Gada (mace) with good form and you will not injure yourself. It’s an extreme training tool that challenges you both mentally and physically.
