Tom Burrows was born in Ballarat in Victoria, Australia on January 26, 1868.
Tom Burrows always maintained that club swinging exercises were the best preparation for all branches of athletics requiring stamina, agility and speed.
He invented nearly all advanced developments of the art of club swinging, and introduced an astonished public of the time, at home and abroad to the possibilities of physical and moral endurance, which was undreamed of until he demonstrated them using a pair of clubs.
