What can I expect to learn?

What can I expect to learn from attending an Indian Clubs International workshop?

All workshops are currently suspended due to COVID-19.

Focus

Our workshops focus on both Indian Clubs and Traditional Mace (gada).

Equipment

We use 1lb and 2lb Indian Clubs, and our maces weigh 8lbs and 15lbs.

Included

A pair of Indian Clubs and a Mace (gada) are included in the price of a workshop.

Stand Alone

Indian Club swinging is a stand-alone discipline that complements other modalities.

What can I expect to learn about Indian Clubs?

With Indian Clubs you will learn the five basic circles and how to grip your clubs correctly, then we will look at combinations that use two circles, followed by a routine that links multiple combinations together with transitions.

A Routine

An Indian Clubs routine is a detailed choreographed pattern of circular movements that can be practised alone, or in groups and in unison.

Like learning to dance

It is very similar to learning dance steps of a Waltz, Tango or martial arts Kata.

Compliments other modalities

Indian Club training is also a great way to warm up and condition your shoulders,  elbows, wrists, fingers and core for other sporting pursuits like swinging the Mace (gada), Martial Arts, Kettlebells, Weightlifting, Climbing, Throwing Sports, Ball Sports, Water Sports, Winter Sports and many many others.

What can I expect to learn about the Mace?

The Mace (gada) is a fearsome weapon of the Gods and is mentioned frequently in ancient history. It signifies the concentration of immense power in an individual and is used to this day by Indian wrestlers for training.

Full body workout

Swinging the Mace is a mental and physical challenge, it is clumsy, unbalanced and intended to be difficult to handle, it is a full-body workout that will strengthen your back, chest, core, shoulders, forearms, and grip.

Environmentally friendly exercise

Both Indian Clubs and Mace (gada) like walking and running are environmentally friendly forms of exercise that can be practised indoors and outdoors. They are simply perfect for quick movement breaks during the day.

What can I expect to learn? We will help you get started

We will help you get started with both Indian Clubs and the Traditional Mace (Gada) at our workshops.

It ain’t what you do it’s the way how you do it!

Like earth moves around the sun and gathers and stores life force from it, similarly Indian Clubs and the Mace move around the body to gather and store life force to be harnessed and used by you.

Harmony of Circles

Combinations and Routine using all five basic circles, both inward and outward, plus many variations. Controlling the clubs with multiple grip changes, namely, Hammer, Sabre, Ring, Claw and  Snake.
Two basic circles swung in sequence to create a combination.
A routine links multiple combinations together with transitions.
